We are excited to offer Florida Hospital's 4-year Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Being "NEW" means you will have an opportunity to build and be a part of an up-and-coming program.  Florida Hospital will, no doubt, become Florida's finest Diagnostic Radiology Residency program. Florida Hospital Diagnostic Radiology Residency program offers formal, clinical training in our specialty. You should feel confident that you will be well-trained in our residency, and prepared to enter great fellowships and jobs.

Florida Hospital is one of the LARGEST HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS in the country, performing over 1 million imaging studies and interventional procedures per year, and offering a wide breadth of pathologies. Because of our large case volumes, high faculty-to-resident ratio, subspecialty training and advanced technology, Florida Hospital has the ability to offer an exceptional radiology educational experience. Radiology residents will be trained with 3T MRI, PET-CT, digital mammography and bi-plane angiography equipment. Florida Hospital's radiology practice is fully staffed by attending radiologists and not dependent upon the resident workforce. Since residents are not responsible for interpreting ALL cases, the large number of studies at Florida Hospital is completely to your benefit. You are allowed to take the time that you need to learn, see rare cases and incorporate them into research projects if you choose (which can be valuable to becoming a competitive fellowship applicant). Florida Hospital's training and responsibility is more similar to actual radiology practice than some other training programs.

Our FACULTY is eager to teach you!  Extensive effort has been invested in starting the radiology residency program and recruiting excellent faculty. Our attendings have trained in numerous geographic locations, and their prestigious radiology residency and fellowship training includes Mayo Clinic, Harvard, Duke and Stanford, among others. Many faculty members have taught at other radiology programs before arriving at Florida Hospital, and several have served as residency or fellowship directors. Florida Hospital has many strong surgical and medical subspecialty departments to significantly enhance your educational experience, including the new Walt Disney Children's Hospital and the Florida Hospital Cancer Center.

Florida Hospital's program BENEFITS provide a tremendous quality of life while in residency.  Florida Hospital Radiology Residency offers a competitive salary, 4 weeks of vacation AND all major holidays off, free food while working, phone, educational funding for scientific presentations at national meetings, research opportunities, American Institute for Radiologic Pathology stipends and team-building opportunities at Orlando Magic games. Resident CALL SCHEDULE is once a week until 10 pm during the end of first year, then 3 weeks of night float once a year for the next 3 years. Residents in good standing will be permitted to MOONLIGHT within the community, and those hours will count towards the Duty Hour limits.

Beyond the educational experience, ORLANDO is a great place to be!  Orlando has a population of 185,950, with almost 30% of its residents between the ages of 20-34 years old. There is a diversity of communities beyond the immediate area, with suburban communities for resident parents and newlyweds and Ocala and Wedgefield for those who prefer open spaces. Temperatures range between 48-72oF in winter; 55-87 oF in spring, 71-91 oF in summer and 57-89 oF in the fall. Orlando has partial or full sun 236 days a year. 5 BEACHES are located less than 1 hr 15 minutes away (including Cocoa, Daytona and New Smyrna) and 7 beaches are 2-2 ½ hours away (including St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Siesta Key and Lido Key). Orlando SPORTS TEAMS include the Orlando Magic, Orlando Predators and University of Central Florida Knights, and you are hours away from games in Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Miami, Gainesville and Tallahassee. FISHING is everywhere on Orlando's lakes. With more than 170 GOLF courses, over 20 golf academies and some of the world's most prestigious tournaments, Orlando is a true golfer's paradise. Take it from the professionals: In addition to being home to more pro golfers than any other city in the world, Orlando was voted the "North American Golf Destination of the Year" by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators in 2010. Radiology residents may walk 9 holes of golf at nearby Winter Park Country Club (www.winterparkcountryclub.com) - tickets in the Florida Hospital Marketplace giftshop are only $5 per round.
