Angiography

Angiography

Angiography is an x-ray examination used to visualize the flow of blood inside arteries, veins, internal organs and chambers of the heart. To make blood vessels visible on a monitor or on film, a contrast agent is added to the blood by injection through a thin tube (catheter) which has been inserted through a small opening in the skin directly into a vein or artery. Depending on the purpose and results of the exam, the radiologist may treat the underlying medical condition during your initial exam.

One of our interventional radiologists specializing in angiography will examine and interpret the x-ray images and create a report of his/her findings that will be sent to your doctor. Your doctor will present the results and discuss them with you.
