3D Ultrasound

3D Ultrasound

3D UltrasoundTransducers on conventional ultrasound scanners send and receive sound waves in a straight line down toward the organ or area of study, producing a flat, two-dimensional (2D) image. Advanced 3D and 4D scanners send sound waves out at different angles and then process the reflected sound waves to add the dimension of volume (depth) to the image. 4D takes the process one step further. It produces and records 3D images in motion.

Used in combination with standard 2D imaging, 4D ultrasound enables physicians to monitor fetal development in the womb like never before. It also enriches the experience of the expectant mother to see her unborn child - often for the first time - in vital, realistic detail.
