Established by Jennie Yoon-Buchanan, MD and the Florida Hospital Foundation in December of 2010, the Florida Hospital Breast Cancer Care  Fund was created to help save the lives of women who cannot afford clinical breast cancer exams and annual mammograms-the most effective tool in the fight against breast cancer. Dr. Buchanan and Florida Hospital believe that all women deserve access to preventative breast cancer exams, and by providing the necessary financial support for those in need, we've already begun to save lives.

What services does the fund cover?

The fund covers general screening and diagnostic breast cancer imaging procedures such as: 

• Digital screening mammography
• Digital diagnostic mammography (including new symptoms and special views)
• Breast ultrasound
• Breast MRI without sedation
• Breast biopsy (ultrasound, MRI or stereotactic)
  • Please note: for these exams, you can only qualify if you've had a prior screening and/or diagnostic mammogram at any Florida Hospital or FRi location and the results were abnormal. If a biopsy is recommended, the pathology fees may not be covered in full.

What are the fund guidelines?

• A physician prescription is required for a mammogram. If you do not have a primary care physician, we will provide you with a referral to one of our highly qualified doctors.
• All breast cancer imaging procedures must be performed at a Florida Hospital or FRi location.
• All appointments must be coordinated through the fund coordinator.
• Applications must be completed thoroughly with personal and income information.

 How do you access the fund?

To start the application process, call (407) 303-1488 or send an e-mail with your contact information to fundcoordinator@FLHosp.org, and the fund coordinator will contact you. Upon approval, the mammography outreach coordinator will call to schedule your necessary appointments and procedures.
