Residency 2018-2019

Our 4-year Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and has Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) accreditation. Our residents have been very successful, with 100% first time Boards pass rate, excellent ACR in-service scores (94 percentile overall and 99 physics percentile for our 3rd year class, and 94 percentile overall and 95 physics percentile for the 2nd year class) and impressive fellowship matches. Our residents have also presented their scientific work at multiple national meetings and are on national resident boards.

News and World Report. Advent Health is one of the largest healthcare systems in the country, performing over 2.5 million imaging studies per year and offering a wide breadth of pathologies.  Because of our large case volumes, high faculty-to-resident ratio, subspecialty training and advanced technology, Advent Health has the ability to offer an exceptional radiology educational experience.  Radiology residents will be trained with 3T MRI, PET-CT, digital mammography and bi-plane angiography equipment. Advent Health’s Radiology Residency will encompass the 6 ACGME competencies – patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism and systems-based practice.

Medical Insurance

Family medical insurance is provided free of charge through the Advent Health Insurance Plan. Physician medical care co-pay is covered for office visits in all Residency offices. Dental and Vision coverage may be purchase at a minimal charge.

Prescription Plan

The Advent Health Prescription Plan is the policy for all employees of Advent Health.

Malpractice Insurance

Occurrence-based malpractice insurance is provided at no cost.

Life Insurance

Life insuranace equivalent to one-year's salary is provided free of charge. Additional life insurance as well as spousal coverage may be purchased for a minimal charge.

Vacation/Personal Time

Residents receive 20 days of vacation/personal time each academic year.

Education Allowance

The education allowance is as follows:

  • PGY-2 residents receive a 5-day leave to attend conferences and expenses reimbursed up to $800.
  • PGY-3 residents receive a 5-day leave to attend conferences and expenses reimbursed up to $1500.
  • PGY-4 and 5th year residents receive a 5-day leave to attend conferences and expenses reimbursed up to $1500.

Protected education and QI time will be provided. Up to 5 days for education and 5 days for QI for PGY-3, PGY-4, and PGY-5 residents.

Professional Fees

As per resident contract.


Residents have two white coats initially and one each year thereafter.


Residents receive all meals at no cost while on duty. Residents will have full access to the Advent Health physician lounge which includes complimentary Starbucks coffee station.


Free covered designated physician parking is available to all residents.
